In the age of fast fashion and ever-changing wardrobes, it is always good to support British brands and stock up on those staple pieces. My parents have had Barbour jackets hanging on the coat rack for as long as I can remember and, for the past decade at least, it is a brand that I know and love. Embracing the Barbour Way of Life (which for me was engrossing myself in the British countryside while being dressed well, of course) I was lucky enough to head to Lucknam Park a few weeks ago to get a sneak peek of their SS20 Shirt Department and dress up a few pieces from the collection.

The heritage of Barbour is hugely important to me, and their shirts are almost as iconic as their jackets. I dressed up the Barbour Country Check 8 tailored shirt with a pair of Neuston Twill Chinos. With this being a British spring (and highly unpredictable), the Barbour Essential Casual Jacket provides a bit of warmth and protection of the elements. I love the lightweight feel of the jacket and definitely think this is a good warm weather alternative to any wax or quill coats.

If the sun is shining and spring/summer is in full swing, then Barbour have a few new pieces that stray away from their classic designs. I absolutely love the Barbour Summer Print Short Sleeved Shirt; the fisherman print being a fun and quirky and a great piece for the countryside or the beach. Classic checks will always have a place in my heart but it’s good to vary the look sometimes. Teamed with the Barbour Neuston Twill shorts for that summer look, and the Barbour Fjord Sweater as a warm layer, it’s a great daytime outfit for those longer days.
