February is an interesting month. Christmas is a distant memory, as is Dry January. Valentine’s Day has come and gone, but that excuse to treat yourself or a loved one really shouldn’t be. We are all waiting for Spring to spring, and the weather is just about warm enough to dine outside, albeit with a little help from cosy blankets and a decent dram of whisky. The new Glenlivet Winter Terrace at J Sheekey certainly ticks those boxes.

Cosiness is key to this dining experience; a roaring open fireplace and the warmth of a good Speyside Single Malt enough to melt even the coldest of hearts. Throw in some excellent options from the well-established J Sheekey menu and a few blankets, and this really is an al fresco experience not to be missed. You’ll find the terrace tucked down St Martin’s Court near Leicester Square; it’s in the heart of the theatre district so expect plenty of atmosphere if you time it with those evening shows. It’s the perfect spot for that pre- or post-theatre dram.

Highlights from the drinks menu include the Hot Toddy; a recipe almost as old as Glenlivet whisky itself. Composed of the Founders Reserve, honey, lemon, cloves and cinnamon, it’s a sure fire way to warm up the cockles and a good introduction to the Glenlivet brand if this is your first rodeo. The Hot Chocolate and Celtic Coffee will also hit the sweet tooth but, if you’re keen for something a little more neat, there are three Glenlivet straight serves for every palate, including the beautiful 15 Year Old French Oak Reserve. The whisky is typically on the more floral end of the spectrum (you won’t find any peat here) and so the accompanying menu of oysters and fish are the perfect partner for snacking well into the night.
