Spring/Summer 17 is almost here folks, but I’m tearing myself away from the temptation of the new launches, new lines and new styles and I am throwing things back with this vintage look from ASOS and Reclaimed Vintage. Turn up the vignette, turn up that fade and turn up in a very cool vintage coat and you have yourself a retro-esque lookbook.
This Reclaimed Overcoat In Floral Print is an absolute monster statement piece; it evades the clutches of modern day tailoring and colour schemes and throws it all back to a bygone age. The coat itself fits like new, but it isn’t afraid to hark back to old creation techniques and prints. Made from reclaimed cuts, its truly is a vintage (and limited edition piece) that I absolutely love. It almost looks like my nan’s old sofa, only a hundred times cooler. Oh, and you can find it in the ASOS sale too at a snip for £99. Cheaper than most antiques and correct at time of print.
Keeping things a touch old school, I have paired this coat with a Deep Red Roll Neck Sweater from French Connection and a pair of subtle, yet perfectly fitted, Grey Tepphar Slim Carrot Jeans from Diesel. I’ll be writing a lot about these perfectly cut jeans over the next few months and, if you have obscenely proportioned ankles to thighs, then I definitely recommend trying them on.
Finishing off the outfit in a less-than-subtle manner, these Tassel Loafers in Burgundy Velvet are great statement pieces for the feet and add another texture to the whole outfit. They fit so well and don’t rub which is a huge bonus. The velvet finish has also stayed remarkably clean despite clocking up a good few miles in them. On my face, a pair of sunglasses acquired from Katie’s wardrobe; just to stick with that slightly mix-and-match feel.
