If you hear the word ‘Resort Collection’ then you know you have a colourful collection of shoes that were destined to walk the tarmac, grass and sand across some top European destinations. Shoes are most definitely my ‘thing’ and after the difficult choice of choosing a single pair of handmade loafers from French outfit Galet (one of the most difficult decisions of my life may I add), it was time to test drive them on the streets of Barcelona.

With a copy of Mr Porter’s eponymous magazine tucked under my arm, I took a stroll around the gardens of the Fairmont Hotel and quickly discovered why Galet is so well-celebrated in the fashion world. They fitted like an absolute dream. Nothing, and I mean nothing, can be a substitute for craftsmanship or quality, and the inners on these shoes could have easily been moulded to fit every contour in my foot. The sole is soft and the woven fabric of the upper shoe is generous, yet feels sturdy enough to withstand normal wear-and-tear.

However, let’s stop beating around the bush and address the proverbial bright green elephant in the room: the colour. The print on these loafers is all but guaranteed to brighten up your day. Every time you look down at your feet, you are met by a sea of bright green turtles and it can’t help but put a smile on your face. There’s even a little nod to a well-known turtle film stitched into each shoe but, rather than spoil the surprise, I urge you to check out the collection here. As for me, I think I may have just my relapsed into my shoe addiction.
