The gentleman of 2016 is spoiled for choice when it comes to finding a suit tailored to a budget. For those with almost unlimited reserves of cash, Savile Row beckons with its four-figure price tags. For everyone else, the high street offers a dizzying array of cuts, materials and styles that completely traverse the price range.
Summer suits, in my opinion at least, must have two prerequisites: fit well (as with any suit) and be light. There’s no use wearing a smart suit that leaves you feeling like a turkey in the oven as soon as the summer sun hits its peak in the sky. (Note: I am aware of the irony of this considering the current state of affairs in the British sky). This is where Primark’s mens summer suit collection comes into play; decent tailoring, light material and plenty of maneuverability, all priced within reason.
The aptly named Light Blue Suit from Primark has all the hallmarks of a well tailored suit. The close fit and neat stitching give it a professional finish and, best of all, you’ll still get change from a fifty pound note. The material is light and flexible which is great for the summer months and it would look equally as good dressed up with a closed collar and tie for an evening event. I’ve paired it with crisp white shirt and this fetching Floral Pocket Square, also from Primark. It passed the test of looking good and even performed well in an impromptu need-to-run-before-I-miss-the-tube test. Full marks for Primark, then.
