Hello party people…Whoah! We’re going to Tarifa…cue the Vengaboyz soundtrack. Fortunately, my outfit for the excursion to the windiest beach in Spain was anything but a 90s menagerie of poorly matched genres. Instead, I kept the colours simple and smart, opting for a varying shades of blacks and blues.
Starting with the legs, this pair of Blue Chino Shorts are direct from the new Next Menswear summer collection. They have the entire colour palette to choose from, but I do feel that simple colours are often best suited for the smarter look. On my top half, this scooped V-Neck T-Shirt from Zara fits the body well but still let’s the air out. Zara are particularly good at summer tees; the material is slightly thinner than other brands but they seem to keep their shape well, even post-wash.
With the sand baked by the midday sun, and starting to feel like hot coals, my feet were well-protected by the Grey Suede Mule, also from Next Menswear. Usually I’d choose a pair of flip-flops on my summer getaway, but these are just a little bit smarter and fit well with the colours of the outfit. On my wrist, this Kensington Watch from Abbot Lyon completes the outfit. Black and gold is a combination that looks particularly good in the sunlight and this is a timepiece that easily transitions from day to night.
Finally, I should also give a special mention to my camera bag from Fox Talbot. I could have opted for a stock camera bag from one of the manufacturers, but I love the way that this bag combines fashion and functionality. While not made from genuine leather, to the naked eye it has a great finish and is a smart accessory that can easily contain two of my cameras and a selection of lenses. No excuses for skipping the impromptu photoshoot now!
