It is that time of year again, Gentlemen. On February 14th, the male contingent of Britain is encouraged to embrace the spirit of love. Whether you are committed like myself, or your right thumb is aching from all of those swipes on your iPhone, there is never a better day to show someone you really care.
For me, the preparation is all about two things: looking good and arriving with a suitable gesture. Oh, and choosing the right venue of course. There are many options for the gentleman who resides in London. Personally, I like to keep things simple; good food and good drink enjoyed high above the London skyline. The Shard may have a tough glass exterior, but beneath the modernity lies a traditional bar with an oriental twist; GONG. The perfect location to feel relaxed, and hopefully take her breath away.
With the bouquet of pink roses sorted and the location chosen for date night, my attention turns to my attire. This is the one night of the year when you simply cannot be overdressed. This is the one night of the year where you have the opportunity to look your best in the name of love. A crisp white shirt and smart tuxedo trousers both frequently transition to and from my wardrobe but, in my mind, it really is the shoes that maketh the man.
