Fashion dictates that trends will come and go, yet there is no denying the timeless nature of a classic black leather biker jacket. Worn throughout the decades by male icons both old and new, it has graced the shoulders of rock icons and film stars alike. Back on home soil after a hectic travel itinerary, I once again teamed up with Ted Baker; this time to create an ensemble that pays homage to this wardrobe staple.
Ted’s JACKPOT Leather Biker Jacket is the perfect showcase piece for this look. The soft ovine leather provides a smooth, if slightly matte, finish and fits the body with ease. Details including the off-centre zip and colourful patterned lining are typically Ted, offering a playful take on classic garment. It feels like a jacket that maintains the classic biker look, yet throws enough into the mix to be a garment that is distinctly different; traditionalism reimagined.
Completing the look, and continuing the biker theme, I have paired the jacket with a plain white tee, dark blue jeans and a pair of black chelsea boots (not being an Easy Rider, I didn’t have an actual pair of motorbike boots to hand so these were an ideal alternative). Finally, an oversized chunky knit scarf subverts the Steve McQueen stereotype and finishes the look.
