With the bright lights and dizzying maze of
streets a sensory overload for even the most seasoned traveller, Hong Kong can
be very intense at times. Thankfully, our base at the Shangri-La
Kowloon provided the perfect respite from an incredibly busy
weekend. Our Deluxe
Harbour View Room was spacious and had plenty to offer on the
well-polished inside. However, it was the view over Victoria Harbour on the
outside that was the real star of the show.
From the impressive reception, to the
kid-in-a-candy store selection at Cafe Kool‘s
buffet breakfast, every corner of the hotel was worthy of the five stars
adorning the Shangri-La placard. Lunch on our final day involved a very
exclusive seat at the resident two Michelin-star Shang Palace,
where Chef Mok Kit Keung served up a spectacular tasting menu specially
designed for us. Needless to say, the food echoed the service and was absurdly
delicious, from the first course to the last. We signed off our stay by
entering a charity competition run by Mr Jimmy Choo himself. I’ve yet to hear
who won first prize, but you can judge my entry for yourselves.
