Located just a short walk from Opera, Hôtel Westminster in Paris provides plenty of theatre and opulence sans the drama of not being in your own home. From check-in to check-out, every single need is catered to, with the service only matched by the surroundings. The hotel is located on La Rue de la Paix and has welcomed celebrities and royalty alike; the Duke of Westminster has even stayed here (hence the name).
Our residence for the night was one of the Junior Suites. 376sq ft of pure decadence, each suite has a separate sitting area as well as a huge marble bathroom. We hardly live in squalor in our North London flat back in the UK, but we could have happily relocated to this room. Each suite overlooks the small courtyard, although we decided not to brave any al fresco dining in the single digit temperatures.
Breakfast can be served in the suite and offers your usual array of European foods. However, Le Duke’s Bar and restaurant downstairs is well worth a trip. Incredible foods are matched with an extensive cocktail and wine list. Ever the Gentleman, my choice of the Kobe burger and Sazerac cocktail seemed to match the atmosphere well. If I ever had a home away from home, this could just be it.
